Bann Valley Museum

Bann Valley CIC would like the local and wider community of Lurgan the Bann Valley Regions and those of you further afield to help by Donating  Artifacts, Volunteer time and or Financial Donations.

Financial Donations will help raise the 5% needed for each of the funding bodies to go towards the funding of Bann Valley Museum.

     How You Can Help Us

1. Donate artefact's

Examples of donations include photographs, maps, medals, posters, diaries, sporting memorabilia, maritime material, drawings and paintings from Northern Ireland and  the Bann Valley regions, business records, newspapers, civil war materials & ecclesiastical items. (Other artefacts the museum would like to purchase or have donated are listed under Artefacts)

Artefact's may be donated to Bann Valley CIC by temporary loan, long term loan, or permanent donation. On receipt of the artefact, a form is signed by the donor and also by personnel. The Company is interested primarily in items of Northern Ireland origin or interest. Bann Valley CIC is a non-profit organisation we do not sell on artefact's.

Temporary Loan: The artefact remains the property of the donor and is loaned to Bann Valley CIC for a short period of time (for the duration of a single exhibition for example).

Long Term Loan: The artefact remains the property of the donor and is loaned to Bann Valley CIC for a long period of time (several years typically). If at any time the donor wishes the artefact to be returned to them it will be done as quickly as possible.

Permanent Donation: The artefact is donated to Bann Valley CIC and becomes the property of Bann Valley CIC.

If you have any queries don't hesitate to e-mail us at dir@bvph-museum.com

2. Donate Money Online

Bann Valley CIC is a not for profit organisation. The running costs of the museum project are partly met by the members but a large proportion of the finance we need to restore the building and get the museum up and running has to be raised by voluntary efforts (art sales, raffles, etc.). We would be grateful for any financial donation large or small to help us with our work.

We can now accept credit card donations online using Paypal. Donations received in this way are used exclusively to purchase artefacts in online auctions, private auctions, restoration and fit out costs. You can decide the amount you wish to donate (it can be as small as a few Pence, Pounds, Euros or Dollars), it will be kindly appreciated.

PayPal is an online service that lets anyone with an email address securely send and receive online payments using their credit card or bank account. In order to keep information safe and secure, PayPal uses SSL technology. In addition, when you send a payment using PayPal, Bann Valley CIC won't receive sensitive financial information like your credit card or bank account number. To donate online using PayPal, you must sign up with them first. It's easy and free.

4. Become An International Volunteer

Even if you don't live in Ireland you can volunteer to help the museum. Many out of print/out of copyright documents will be in the Museum Archive. We would like to make these available on our web site but due to the constraints of staffing and time we aren't able to scan all of them. We have had the idea of getting volunteers to help us scan text from these documents. Here is how the idea works.

We would sent you the document.

You would scan them.

Then you send documents back.

We would probably have to send a minimum of about 25 pages a time to make it worth the museums while. If you have the ability to scan documents and want to help the museum please send your e-mail address to:  dir@bvph-museum.com

We wouldn't be in a great hurry to get documents scanned. If they were sent back within a month we would be more than happy.

A word of caution: Scanning documents takes longer than you think (especially the proofreading), it is often and at times boring you probably won't get the thanks you feel you deserve. However you would be making a very worthwhile contribution to preserving Lurgan and the Bann Valley Regions History and the museum.

Thank You For All Your Support
